Matt Campbell is bringing some help to State College.
Former Iowa State offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Taylor Mouser, safeties coach Deon Broomfield and offensive line coach Ryan Clanton were added to Penn State’s staff directory on Thursday.
Mouser has worked under Campbell since 2015 when he was a graduate assistant at Toledo. He followed Campbell to Ames and worked his way up the ranks, taking over as offensive coordinator in 2024. The move indicates Andy Kotelnicki will not be retained by Penn State into next season, ending his tenure with the Nittany Lions after two years.
Broomfield, a former Cyclone safety himself, had been coaching Iowa State safeties since 2021. He also held the title of “secondary defensive coordinator,” which is what he’s listed as in the directory, meaning Anthony Poindexter, who’s been with Penn State since 2021, may retain his role.
Lastly, Clanton has been with the Cyclones for the last three seasons, adding the title of run game coordinator for the last two. He’s listed as the offensive line coach, displacing Phil Trautwein, who held the role since 2020 and has reportedly interviewed with his alma mater Florida.
Other notable additions to the directory include general manager Derek Hoodjer, strength and conditioning coach Reid Kagy, director of player personnel Trent Slattenow, chief of staff Skip Brabenec and sport performance manager Aaron Hillmann.
